Bakhmaro sits at the highest point of Chokhatauri municipality — 1926 metres. This elevation entirely defines Bakhmaro's climate: summer is brief and cool, temperatures rarely exceeding 20 degrees, and mist — the natural companion of flower-filled meadows — appears every morning and evening.

Bakhmaro's alpine meadows stand out for their botanical diversity. In July and August, at the peak of the season, Bakhmaro's meadows are covered by thousands of flowers — bell-flowers, yarrow, Colchic aster — all blooming simultaneously.

Bakhmaro has always been considered a destination for health tourism. The air, the nature, and the silence draw people from Tbilisi, Batumi, and beyond. Family cottages — the typical Bakhmaro accommodation — offer these visitors the atmosphere of a home away from home.

Interesting fact

Bakhmaro was already known as a therapeutic-climatic resort from the late 19th century — military doctors stationed in Batumi cited Bakhmaro as a respiratory convalescence destination.
