The most botanically significant feature of Chokhatauri is its population of wild vine (Vitis vinifera subsp. sylvestris) — this native vine is the wild ancestor of the cultivated Chkhaveri, Ojaleshi, and other Gurian grape varieties. Wild vine grows at forest margins, and its genetic material is critical to Caucasian grape breeding.

In early summer, the ground layer of the forest reaches peak bloom. The most striking species are wild rose (Rosa canina), forest sorrel, cornelian cherry (Cornus mas) — whose fruit is used in local cuisine — and several species of crane's bill geranium.

Among medicinal plants, the most common are: elder (Sambucus nigra), wild thyme (Thymus serpyllum), St John's wort (Hypericum perforatum), and forest raspberry. Older residents still know these plants by name and use — knowledge that is gradually being passed to younger generations.
