The Chokhatauri–Bakhmaro road is a 45 km mountain road climbing from 200 to 2000 metres. The first half is paved and relatively straightforward. The second half — gravel, narrow, tracing the Bzhuzha valley — can also be explored by horse or on foot as an alternative to the car.

The most spectacular points along the route: the 'Sveti Bridge' — a natural stone arch in the Bzhuzha valley; the 'Bakhmaro Gate' — where the forest suddenly opens onto the alpine meadow panorama; and the 'Black Sea View' — a small clearing from which the sea is visible in clear conditions.

The road opens from mid-June and remains accessible until late October. In winter, from November, the road closes — Bakhmaro is unreachable during this period.
